Describe the need: We are in a partnership with the Truckee Unified School District to cosponsor the screening of the documentary "SCREENAGERS" in October 2016. The contract with IndieFlix is $650 for each screening. The district has paid their portion of $650.00, and we are seeking help for our portion. We also are seeking help from the Optimist Club. Because of the importance of this topic, we decided not to use this event as a fund raiser, but are partnering with the district to reach as many community members as possible.
This documentary explores the struggles over social media, video games, academics and Internet addiction. A topic that concerns parents everywhere, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time may impact kids’ development and offers possible solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. The two screenings will each be followed by a panel discussion to allow for questions and audience participation. These events will provide a forum for our community to learn more about how living in a digital age influences our lives, families, education and work.

Describe community service your organization already participates in: The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization that supports and advocates for the Truckee Library as an important educational and cultural center of our community. We hold used book sales and fundraisers to support adult literacy, children's programming and cultural offerings such as our ongoing historical series. We also are preparing for the 2016 tax renewal that contributes 65% of library funding.
