Loyalton Lamb Feed & Tour de Cross- Thursday August 21, 2008
This year's event is scheduled for Thursday August 21. The event begins with a bike ride out to Loyalton. There is a bus for those less inclined to pedal their way to Loyalton!
Once again! Through rain, sleet
or snow the 11th Annual Tour de Cross will leave Truckee at 3pm on
August 21 on the leisurely ride to the Loyalton Rotary Lamb Feed, a 20+
mile three-hour tour on dirt back roads and single track ending at the
picnic grounds outside of Loyalton. A bus will transport all
riders back to Truckee, arriving at roughly 9:30-10pm. Departure /
return point is the parking lot behind the Beacon Station downtown.
Details will be provided, contact Patrick and Maia. A basic fitness level of sustained riding for
three hours is required but the base level route covers non-technical
terrain with only a few climbs of note. The pace is leisurely but
constant. (At least that's what Patrick says!!!)
In years past we've had 30+ riders; For
those unfamiliar with the Loyalton Lamb feed, expect truly wonderful
lamb offerings combined with their signature chili, salad, and garlic
bread on an all-you-can-eat for absurd pricing ( $20).
Freshly slaughtered that day (not a good culinary term but indicative of
the quality of food served), this is a BBQ not to miss. Families
are of course welcome and encouraged. This is a great event to
invite non-Rotarian's too. Help support the Loyalton Rotary Club!
Lamb and cold beer never tastes so good
as after a successful Tour de Cross. We've even seen in the past
riders who only cover part of the ride, and the air ambulance ride out
was not to be forgotten - (just kidding). Great views, awesome trails,
and lamb that will break your heart in it's freshness and delicious
flavor - this is truly an afternoon to reserve for a ride in the
countryside and an evening of exceptional grilling, eating, and
fellowship.
